COMPRESS

Highlighted Features
  • ASME B16.9 Tees

    • B16.9 Tees now available for nozzle connections
The option to add B16.9 tees to nozzles is now available and can be used in unison with other nozzle connections such as nozzle pipe, B16.9 elbows, B16.9 reducers, B16.5/16.47 flanges, and all head types. Nozzle connections that include a tee permit up to ten connections including two elbows. The available material list for the tee is limited to the materials listed in ASME B16.9. The User-Defined Material option may be used but is limited to fitting product forms. Tees may be added to the model using Quick Design, the Nozzle menu option, or from the tee dialog. [63032]

  • Foundation Load Summary

  • General

    • Reporting SI units in MPa
The option to select MPa for SI pressure and stress units is now available in Set Mode Options -> Defaults -> Units. The default SI pressure units are now set to MPa instead of kPa. [57378]

  • MDMT

    • Specify different impact test temperatures for multi-chamber vessels
Separate impact test temperatures can now be set for multi-chamber vessels through Set Mode Options -> Testing. Impact testing enabled through a specific component dialog will then be set to the impact test temperature for the chamber it is a part of. Components that touch two separate chambers such as internal heads, tubesheets, and floating heads use the lesser of the two impact test temperatures of the chambers they separate. [56913]

  • Out-of-Roundness

    • UG-80 and UG-81 Permissible out-of-roundness of cylinders, conical sections, spheres, and formed heads
Out-Of-Roundness calculations are now available for cylinders, conical sections, spheres, and formed heads. The calculations can be disabled by the option switch Include Out-Of-Roundness Calculations (UG-80) in the ASME Codes dialog. The following will apply when Out-Of-Roundness is active:
      • Out-Of-Roundness sections included at the end of each component report.
      • Out-Of-Roundness requirements are summarized for components under internal pressure.
      • The maximum permissible deviation, e, is obtained from Figure UG-80.1 for components under external pressure.
      • The minimum chord length for deviation measurements is obtained from twice the arc length obtained from Figure UG-29.2.
Additionally, an Out-Of-Roundness Summary report is now included for vessels designed with external pressure. This report includes the following: component names, maximum permissible deviations, chord lengths, and equivalent length of components. [5081]

    • UG-20(f) applied to ASME B16.5/16.47 flanges
Impact testing exemption is now applied to ASME B16.5/16.47 flanges that meet the criteria of UG-20(f). [69060]

  • Appendix 2 Flanges

    • Long seam placement for custom flanges
The long seam angle may now be specified for custom flanges in the Long Seam Wizard and is visible in the 3D view. During initial creation the long seam will offset from the connecting component to avoid aligning seams. [68337]

  • Appendix 46

    • Nozzles with Appendix 46 active attached to Appendix 14 heads
Nozzles with Appendix 46 active may now be attached to Appendix 14 heads. [70164]

  • Dished Covers

    • Longitudinal radiography for dished cover flange
The longitudinal radiography may now be specified for Type b and Type d dished cover flanges. Dished covers loaded in from previous builds will default the flange radiography to Seamless No RT. In addition, the UCS-66 material toughness requirements, postweld heat treat and impact testing checks, and the material size requirements for custom flanges will now consider the radial width of the flange. [68558]

  • FEA-Nozzles

    • Latest Division 2 rule set available for finite element analysis on nozzles
The option switch 2017+ is now available in the Finite Element Analysis -> FEA Options dialog. [70034]

  • Forms

    • NBIC form R-1 updated to revision 16
NBIC form R-1 is now updated to revision 16. [70028]

    • PDF now launched in a separate window
The PDF reports generated from ASME Forms are now launched in a separate window. [69460]

  • General

    • Option to specify lethal service to independent chambers is now available
The option to specify lethal service to independent chambers is now available. The Specification Sheet Data pane -> Design Requirements pane can be used to apply lethal service to specific chambers of multi-chamber vessels at any point as well as to heat exchangers during creation. Additionally, lethal service can be independently applied within the Codes -> ASME Codes dialog by enabling Lethal Service / Full RT switch for the desired chamber. The lethal service setting for each chamber is now echoed in the Setting Summary report. [54021]

    • Specify different minimum thicknesses for multi-chamber vessels per UG-16(b) and Part 4.1.2
Separate minimum thicknesses can now be set for multi-chamber vessels through the Codes -> ASME Codes dialog. Components will then follow the minimum thickness requirement for the chamber they are a part of. Components touching two separate chambers such as internal heads, floating cylinders, and floating heads will use the greater of the two minimum thicknesses of the chambers they separate. [59774]

  • MDMT

    • UCS-68(c) correctly applied to long weld neck nozzles when Appendix 46 is active
An MDMT reduction is now correctly applied to long weld neck nozzles when Appendix 46 is active and the rules of UCS-68(c) are met. Previously, the MDMT reduction was still applied to nozzles requiring PWHT due to thicknesses larger than acceptable in UW-40(f)(3). [69131]

  • Material

    • Report extreme fiber elongation calculation for formed shell sections and heads rolled from flat bar
Shell sections and heads formed from flat bar now report the extreme fiber elongation calculation when the option switch Flat bar product form is active in the Material Properties dialog. Previously, this calculation was only investigated for plate product forms. [61684]

  • Material Scheme

    • Column width retains size
The column widths inside of the Material Scheme dialog are now retained when switching between material schemes or closing and reopening the dialog. [64788]

  • Seismic

    • Warning for low ASCE and IBC spectral response acceleration values
A warning message is now issued in the Seismic Codes dialog and in the Deficiencies Summary when the spectral response acceleration at short periods, Ss, and spectral response acceleration at 1 second period, S1, are entered less than 2.75 and 1.5, respectively for ASCE and IBC Seismic Codes. Values entered lower than these are assumed to be entered as decimals instead of percentages and should be converted. [69750]

Heat Exchanger

  • Floating Tubesheet HX

    • RCB-11 Enforcement for floating heads
The requirements of TEMA RCB-11 are no longer enforced for floating heads, as internal flanged joints are excluded from minimum bolt size requirements. [69519]

  • Material Scheme

    • Channel head materials unexpectedly changing
Channel head materials no longer revert back to the material scheme default material when changed. Previously, selecting the Channel page would change the front and rear channel head materials back to the material scheme default material for the particular material scheme. [69423]

  • Nozzle Connections

    • Piping component MDMT on heat exchangers
Piping components on heat exchangers are now initialized with the MDMT of their parent component. Previously, the MDMT of these components was taken from the default value set in Set Mode Options -> General -> Minimum Design Metal Temperature MDMT. [68513]
